Travel Writing Tips gathered from L. Peat O’Neil’s, Travel Writing — Chapter 1

1. “Notice whether the article is in present or past tense. Is the narrative expressed in first person (I, we), second person (you), or third person (The traveler, the visitor)?” (Pg. 13)

2. “Once you’ve decided what kind of travel article you are working on you can develop the theme, selecting salient details and anecdotes to tell the story.”  (Pg. 11)

3. “Confronting prejudices and misunderstanding can be funny, if we the writers are willing to be honest and humble about our mistakes and illuminate the larger issues through humor.” (Pg. 25)
