Travel Writing Tips gathered from “Travel Writing” by L. Peat O’Neil, chapter 6

1. Pre-Trip Research: “While the internet is my favorite research arena. I also recommend library research, simply because the bulk of human knowledge was compiled prior to the electronic age and not every book or research source has been transferred.”

2. An unfortunate criticism of travel writers is that we don’t use or check facts, relying on impressions or feelings to describe a place.”

3. “When facts can’t be verified, they probably aren’t facts but speculation, gossip, myth, or innuendo. “

4. “Story narrative and structure still guide the choice of information; style will shape presentation of the information.”
